EDISON — Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin McCabe endorsed Senator Cory Booker for President, citing Booker’s longstanding commitment to fighting for those left behind economically and socially.
“For the nearly two decades I have known Senator Booker, he has consistently been on the side of those who have been forgotten by so many of our politicians,” said McCabe. “From his years fighting for change in Newark, a city whose rise he helped immeasurably as Mayor, to his years fighting for criminal justice reform and a fairer economy in the Senate, Cory Booker has given a shot to those who so many others have ignored.”
McCabe said that he first met Booker when Booker was running for council in the Central Ward of Newark.
“Cory Booker could have used his impeccable academic qualifications to do whatever he chose but what he chose to do is striking in its commitment to our most needy communities: he moved to the Central Ward of Newark to fight against predatory landlords and a corrupt system that too often ignored the very people it was designed to serve. Since then, as an elected official, he has been nothing less than a disruptor and a change agent – the kind of public servant whom we, as Americans, deserve to see in the White House. As someone who has known him and seen his work up close for nearly two decades, it is my sincere privilege to strongly endorse his candidacy for President of the United States.”
